Yearly and Ongoing Events

International Trade Missions the PSIA represents the Philippines in various annual international events such as SODEC Tokyo, CEBIT Australia, CommunicAsia Singapore, Microsoft WPC USA, JavaOne USA, and Oracle Openworld USA, as well as local events like the Cebu Business Month Celebration and the CICT-BPAP Talent Caravan that visited the so-called next wave cities of the country.
Industry Sell Events and Networking the PSIA Board represents the industry in various networking sessions. The PSIA counterparts in Singapore, Vietnam, and Australia, among others, have recently visited the country and sat down for business matching with PSIA members. Regularly, the PSIA Board also gives talks to groups of foreign investors to possibly get leads for the industry.
Enablement Seminar Series through the Capability Development committee of PSIA, the Enablement Seminar Series was born. The Series kicked of in September 2009 with Shore Up Your Business: Options for Technopreneurship, followed by To Hire & To Hold: Recruitment & Retention in ITO, and then Spot Me: Ideas for Global Market Positioning. With the overwhelming support from industry and high attendance rate, the PSIA was inspired to offer another series of seminars, this time on Project Management for the whole 2010.
IT Evangelism Advocacy the PSIA embarked on an awareness advocacy which aims to spread the good news about pursuing an IT career and eventually augment the much in-demand IT workforce. The PSIA Board and Tech Council members speak in various high schools and universities about the promising path for an IT professional.
Teacher Trainings with the help of the Commission on Information and Communications Technology (CICT), Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), Philippine Society of IT Educators (PSITE), and Coordinating Council of Private Educational Associations (COCOPEA), the PSIA has been able to organize several teacher trainings since 2007. This is part of the Industry-Academe Linkage project of the Capability Committee, which seeks to update faculty members with the newest technologies and practices that they, in turn, can teach their students.
DevCon or Developers Connect is a gathering of Filipino developers and “geeks” for skills improvement and professional advancement by embracing global best practices through a discussion format that is unique to itself. It started in 2007 in Cebu and spearheaded by the IMM Committee. It has grown to be known now as DevCon Foundation.
